Considering the name of this website, and the small business/hobby attached to it, one would think this blog would have something to do with knitting. I know. Weird, right?
I love knitting. The act of weaving magic with a ball of spun fibre is my superpower. For those who may have ventured beyond the Fairy Forest part of this blog, they know that I make custom dolls with unique personalities. Many of my creations are doppelgangers of living humans. Most, but not all, have been children, commissioned by their parents or grandparents. My other specialty is knitting doll clothes for Blythe dolls, collected by people around the world. (The dolls, not my clothes, unfortunately!) Feel free to click around on the site to get a feel for my usual pastime.
The thing is, knitting takes time. A lot of time and work, love and cursing goes into every project. So when I decided to create a Fairy Forest in my craft room, I knew for the near future, I wouldn't have the time to do both. In a fairytale world, I would have loved to accessorize the forest with hand-knit treasures; there's an abundance of patterns available online for items that would fit perfectly in the space.
Here are a few examples of things from the Ravelry website I would love to craft from scratch, but haven't. Yet.
However, I am hoping to finish this closet project before my four grand children head off to high school, and the time that would be required to tackle these projects makes that highly unlikely. Though I haven't abandoned knitting entirely.
I have been experimenting with my own version of the tree stump ottoman shown above. I purchased three different colours of brown and grey and am combining them in a random pattern to form a more realistic looking bark, as shown. But as you can see, I have a long way to go. I will keep you posted on future projects!

For now, I am looking at the Fairy Forest as a cozy home for some of the toys I have already crafted, and those still to come. That recycled shelf is plenty big enough to house quite a few of those cuddly friends, to be shared with my young visitors. Once I have completed the initial Quest, I plan to add new and different things with each visit; many of those will be hand-knit. Who knows what other magical creatures could take up residence in the Fairy Forest?
But making the dream a reality is my primary goal right now. Back to my shopping!
